Bollywood Night

18.10.07

A charity dinner held on 18th October raised £6,000 for disadvantaged children in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.

More than 250 guests joined the Berkshire Community Foundation and Mustaqbill [The Future] Foundation at Haveli, an Indian restaurant in Slough. There were speeches by Gordon Storey DL and Councillor David MacIsaac, the Chair of Mustaqbill, Nazar Lodhi and the local Slough MP, Fiona Mactaggart. The food was exceptional and our photographers worked hard throughout the night to capture the atmosphere. The disco was led by DJ Tony Patti from Sunrise Radio and together with Bollywood dancers and singers, added a traditional Indian flavour to the event. Everyone enjoyed themselves and many of our guests joined the dance floor after dinner! In addition, there were some great raffle prizes including Thomas Cook vouchers worth £250, a selection of fine wines and DVD's as well as a Welsh Rugby shirt signed by England Rugby players, which was auctioned for £120.

The audience’s contribution was amazing, with the total raised from the raffle and donations reaching over £2,000. The proceeds from the night have been shared between the Berkshire Community Foundation and the Mustaqbill Foundation and will be distributed in order to help young people in the local area get a better start in life.
