Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is an excellent way for employees of local companies to support the Foundation.
How does it work?
The employer registers with one of the central agencies for payroll giving, which handle the administration. They may levy an administrative charge on each payment. For example, the “Give as you Earn” scheme, run by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has a minimum charge of 35p per donation. The agency then distributes the donations directly to the Foundation. Each scheme set up has to be approved by the Inland Revenue.
If you are an employee whose employer does not run a Payroll GAYE scheme why not ask them to set one up? There are currently government grants to encourage small businesses (less than 500 employees) to set up Payroll Giving for their employees. These new schemes also benefit from matching for the first 6 months of donor’s gifts – up to £10 per month.
As an employee/ donor you just complete a form and deductions are made directly from your salary – each week, or month or once a year or as a “one off”.
